Aviva Olsavsky, MD

Dr. Aviva K. Olsavsky is an Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, as well as a Child and Adolescent and Perinatal psychiatrist with a focus on substance use disorders. She cares for individuals during the perinatal period and their children in the Young Mothers and PROMISE clinics. She has a career development research award to study how stressful life experiences and substance use impact parent-infant relationships and maternal and child mental health. She has experience in providing neurodevelopmental, women’s mental health, and substance use content and clinical expertise to multiple study teams including several NIH-funded studying harm reduction methods in substance use treatment. She also serves as a consultant to the American Heart Association for the Empowered to Serve Program which creates psychoeducational materials which are disseminated via community-based participatory research in a network of faith-based organizations serving Black and Hispanic communities.
